Sustainability

Vertex’s nationwide team of professionals combine to make an exceptional portrait of experience and knowledge in sustainable building practices.

LEED project certifications have paved the way for sustainable building practices to become commonplace. Mark Degenaars of our Denver office was the Project Manager on the $12.3M LEED Silver Washakie Museum & Cultural Center, a 25,000 SF project. Our team has also been involved with the Rocky Mountain Arsenal ($4.6M, Gold), the Samsonite Distribution Center ($2.3M, Gold) to name a few. In addition to LEED experience, we also have experience with the various state sanctioned sustainable building programs.

In Massachusetts, we have been selected as 1 of only 20 pre-qualifed Owner’s Project Managers for the MSBA Green Repair Program. The MSBA Green Repair Program will invest $300M to install sustainable roofs, HVAC and/or window systems where necessary throughout schools statewide.

In Colorado, the HPCP program is in place, which follows the same strict guidelines for a LEED Gold certification, but does not actually apply for the official certification. Currently we are working on a new, $17.9M school under the HPCP program. This project will be a net zero facility, the first in the state, and include common sustainable applications such as photovoltaic panels, geo-exchange heating & cooling and building commissioning.
