Remediation

VERTEX managed the due diligence, remedial investigation and remediation at a 4.5 acre development site in Gainesville, FL. The site had a known release of petroleum from above ground storage tank system and historic underground storage tanks associated with a former on-site boiler room and historic gasoline filling station. VERTEX implemented a subsurface investigation under an expedited time frame in order to define the source and extent of environmental impacts and develop a cost effective remediation plan to perform impacted soil removal that constituted a continuing source of contamination to groundwater. The site was also being impacted from an off-site source of petroleum.
VERTEX submitted a Remedial Action Plan (RAP) to the Alachua County Environmental Protection Department of (ACEPD) to excavate approximately 3,000 ton of impacted soil and complete groundwater dewatering and on site treatment. Residual impacts were further treated utilizing the application of remedial additives (PETROXTM) directly into the open excavations in each separate excavation area to further reduce potential residual contaminants in groundwater following excavation.
VERTEX was successful in providing groundwater modeling information to the ACEPD in order to acquire a No Further Action (NFA) for the off site impacts and the on site remediation was also successful in reducing on-site groundwater concentrations below Groundwater Clean-up Target Levels (GCTLs). As part of the turn-key service, VERTEX completed all asbestos contracting services, remediation, environmental oversight and building demolition services under a single contract with a single point of contact for the client.
