VERTEX provided environmental consulting services for the development of a property that historically was utilized by a board game manufacturer and DPW facility in Salem, Massachusetts. After conducting an assessment of site contaminants in soil and groundwater and potential exposure pathways considering the intended use for the site as a multifamily apartment complex, VERTEX managed the excavation and disposal of 2,500 tons of petroleum impacted soil under a Release Abatement Measure (RAM).
Additionally, VERTEX prepared and implemented the site design/soil management plan utilizing proposed development of the site, implemented an Activity Use Limitation (AUL) for remaining soil contamination, and prepared a regulatory closure report with a comprehensive risk characterization to facilitate the development and resale of the property.
