VERTEX was retained by an insurance carrier to investigate a commercial property in Houston, Texas with alleged hail and wind damages from a storm event. The property consisted of 54 townhomes with reported damages to 231 apartment units.
VERTEX’s investigation included inspections of all the roof coverings, windows and interior damages. Additionally, VERTEX interviewed applicable parties, reviewed meteorological data, and completed historical maintenance research on the property.
Based on our investigation, VERTEX concluded that the damages observed were not from the storm event but rather from improper repair/construction techniques, deferred maintenance, and roofs at the end of their useful life expectancy.
